One such simple yet powerfully influential interior design which attracted my interests towards further exploring the world of interior designing is that of Yorkville Penthouse in Toronto, Canada. Unlike usual decor for warm and inviting places, these penthouses designed by Cecconi Simone is the perfect example of simplicity and contrast. The theme of the interior design of this penthouse is contemporary. First impression looks like the combination of black and white decor. However, on closer scrutiny, we can see that even though the main color used is white, the shade in contrast is dark brown and not black. The details created by the fine distinction between contrasting shades make the space inviting and warm. There are three separate zones in the penthouse. First is the area of interior courtyard, and the second zone is the public area while the last zone is recognized as the private zone.

The interior designers have efficiently imbibed warmth and sophistication by utilizing the choices of extremely simple yet beautiful and elegant mix of textures and colors. The light colored flooring, white and ceilings walls are elegantly complemented by the dark colored wooden furniture and the designers have successfully managed to create strong contrast among them. Other important materials utilized for aesthetically beautifying these spaces consist of white marble, Italian limestone and glass. The beauty of interior courtyard is augmented by the fact that it is a north facing area and enables the occupants to relax in the peaceful atmosphere with comforting décor, flow of water on the walls, natural light coming in and lots of green surroundings outside. There is also an entertainment area, which leads to outer terrace. This area includes a dining room, gourmet kitchen, breakfast bar, the living room and an exterior living area with a water element (Ganea, 2013)。
