Britain’s connection with the European Union is a very strong one. The EU was developed as an economic and political partnership with 28 European countries and was begun with the intent to develop economic cooperation between the countries. The focus of countries moves to improving their countries by working as one trade or economic bloc. With its own currency being used by more than 19 member countries, the EU has been a strong front in European economics, even to the point that national legislatures were developed around its ordinances. The United Kingdom joined the EU as a very early member. Its first two applications were vetoed in the year 1961, and then later in 1967, in 1969 the United Kingdom was finally able to resume negotiations for joining the European Union. Finally, in 1973, England joined the EU along with other countries like Denmark and Ireland. In 1975, a referendum was held and UK continued with a 67 percent support in favour of EU membership. The 2016 referendum, on the other hand, showed a majority voting in favour of the Brexit.
