There are several other studies that reveal the similar aspects in relation to the motivation factors in not-for-profit organizations. Overall the studies reveal that the intrinsic factors are quite relevant for not-for-profit organizations (Tippet and Kluvers, 2009). It has been observed that the extrinsic factors are not the having much influence as the employees understand the financial viability. The aspects are entirely opposite to the factors affecting motivation in for-profit organizations as the reward system is based on achieving the targets. There are certain similarities in the motivation factors being employed by McDonald’s while differences are also there.

In case of McDonald’s, similar to not-for-profit organizations, the major focus is on intrinsic factors of motivation. The factors that have been considered and discussed above for motivation in not-for-profit organizations are quite relevant and significant. Similar approach is seen to be adopted by McDonald’s as well. However, the difference that can be seen is in the way the targets are set. There are some adjustments that need be required to be made considering the differences such as targets and the employee mix. In case of not-for-profit organizations, the employee mix includes part time and voluntary workers as well. In case of McDonald’s, this type of employees is almost negligible. In view of this, the target setting is important.
