I believe that project management risks are one of the foremost risks in the project engineering management sector. While project management improvement is researched for in academic context and is being investigated in real time case practice also, at another end risks in project management result in issues (Bhuta, 1992). The very purpose of constructing proper project management techniques will lose their meaning if risks in project management are not addressed (Gobeli, & Larson, 2015). Risks in project management might be different or might be increased because of the international context. Research studies of authors such as Walewski et al (2006) and Walewski & Gibson (2003) seems to indicate that international risk management would be different compared to normal risk management. My interest hence stems from understanding what the nature of the difference would be? If there is a difference what is the level of influence it has on internal project developments and also whether these risks could be categorized in some way for easier application across international project management in future.
In the broad interest of the issue, this research study will highlight why international project management risks will require special investigation. These are not common issues and hence should not be treated as such. International risk management issues at present are given academic treatise of their own, but more formal undertaking and more academic investigations are necessary in this sector (Kwak & Devon, 2001). There are many more sub issues that can also be investigated under this same topic. The influence of leadership in the case of international project management could affect risk management. Similar there could be other factors that could be helpful in minimizing the risk and others that could lead to better risk management internationally. The investigation of these factors is however out of scope of this research and is hence only briefed on.
