The Shift work / hours of work are usually a very common factor that is cited for increased stress . In a world where work is done at different time zones, with much of the work being done through outsourced entities, it so happens that workplace related stress are on the rise. One of major factors that results in workplace related stress is when skills / abilities do not match job demands.
Employees that are seen to have a lack of training and/or preparation (technical and social) are seen to suffer higher stress in a comparative angle.
Employees in a work environment where they believe they lack appreciation are seen to suffer from a greater negative impact in stress compared to their peers who are not 。
Physical environment (noise, air quality, etc) will have an effect in creating stress.
Sometimes, there is isolation at the workplace. This can be isolation caused by emotional issues, or working alone or having to make too many decisions or staying accountable alone, etc .
Work autonomy is identified as a major reason for stress. Some employees might prefer to have their work dictated to them. They would need someone to oversee their work. On the other hand, some employees might need to have their independence in doing their work. Research studies also report about how work related lack of autonomy in front line employees leads to stress for them when they are dealing with an irate customer . The ability to make their own decisions is hence a reason for increased stress.
