Overview
This assessment will focus on your ability to develop workplace sustainability policy and risk management analysis. You will produce a document and then present a summary of it. There is no word count for the policy manual, but each section should adequately cover what is required.
Context and Purpose:
The context of this assessment is to test your ability to develop a workplace policy for Sustainability Policies and Procedures and Risk Management for your nominated business. The purpose is to provide evidence of your ability to plan, develop, and implement an organisational policy which is compliant with all relevant legislation and governmental requirements for a business. This demonstrates such skills as critical analysis, problem-solving, data interpretation, communication, presentation, and use of software systems.
The Task:
During class, your facilitator will provide a list of business types so that you may choose one to use for your assessment. Each facilitator will approve and record your selection to ensure that a diversity of businesses is used across the student group.
On or before the due date and time you will provide via Blackboard:
1. A Sustainability and Risk Policy Manual, using the WORD template provided.

In this template you are required to create a manual outlining the policies and procedures that need to be implemented in order for the business to take a ‘greener’ approach to sustainability. This should include identifying and analysing any associated risks involved in the business becoming more environmentally sustainable and then providing strategies to treat these risks. Your manual should have the following sections:
THE BUSINESS CONTEXT
About the Business. Briefly describe your chosen business. What type of business is it, its organisational structure, staff roles and responsibilities? In which market segment and industry does it operate? What is the primary product or service it is selling? How is it selling its product or service? How does a customer buy your product or service?
Business Process. Provide a detailed description of the typical business processes as a value chain that your business goes through on a daily basis. Create a flow chart that outlines these processes, showing each main step and the respective resources used.
POLICY PURPOSE, OBJECTIVES, AND SCOPE
Purpose. Explain briefly how this policy supports the company’s vision for sustainability and/or the benefits of such a policy to the business. Why are you considering developing such policy for your organisation? Be specific and relate this to the business process flow chart. Which direct benefits can you see in deploying such policy in your business? [Template: Business Process Flow]
Scope. Fully define the scope of the policy. Identify what resource targets that you would like to focus on to improve. Include an explanation of the general risks that confronts your business.
Objective(s). Summarise the overall methods, strategies, and systems that you will use to improve the business’s sustainability standing.
Measure(s). Fully consider how to measure and review these resources at different time periods (current and future) against measurable benchmarks.
