Race and Culture are the basis of human categorization in society since ages. There are many different concepts, perceived by these words, in different eras and among different group of people. People have generalizations about various races and cultures which may be true, but not always. The term ‘race’ is a complex term when analyzed deeply. In everyday life, the word ‘race’ is usually used to refer a particular group of people who have similar physical characteristics, which may be height, color, features, or any apparent aspect. Race also, sometimes, refers to the culture or identity of people. In fact, race has very diversified meanings in different academic platforms. When anthropologists talk about race, they have very controversial concepts about the definition of this term. The most common belief among masses and anthropologists is that race is a group of people having same origin (Cashmore, 1988). For example, people who belong to Africa are grouped together having same race, Chinese people comes under another race and so on. Another perception among anthropologists is that race has nothing to do with natural aspects, rather it is a perception created by humans themselves. The idea of race is often referred, by anthropologists as a social construct that varies among different cultures.“Both what constitutes a race and how one recognizes a racial difference are culturally determined” (King, 1981). The formation of races and racial differences is determined by the culture or, it can be said that it is a cultural way of categorizing human beings. In the light of these two core concepts, race can be defined in perspectives, i.e., social and physical.
