This unconventional collaboration of team makes Zara’s supply chain system apart from the other retailers that practiced upon the conventional techniques.
Because Zara owns most of their manufacturing facilities which enables them with the shortest possible lead times from display to store. The majority of the products are produced within the Zara’s owned factories and the raw material comes from the Zara’s owned suppliers therefore, it gives them an edge over other retailers to produce at a speed they want.
Most of the Zara’s store is solely operated by the company itself. Because of their, no repeatability of the products and no seasonal offerings, products rarely stayed very long in the stores which keep them the process running at a continual speed.
Manufactured in Spain, at a cost as low as possible so that they can be able to use more expensive and efficient logistic system to move their products from catwalk to rack in the lowest possible time. To compete in terms of speed, Zara used the most expensive form of transportation – air transport – to ship clothes from Spain to retail stores around the world. The distribution centre was located in Spain, and consolidated clothing made in different countries and then distributed them to different stores.
