To conclude, it can be understood from various definitions by researchers that epistemology gives an idea about the kind of knowledge that is possible and achievable from a particular research work. Theoretical research grounds methodological logic and criteria to be undertaken in the research and empirical research is the method of gaining knowledge by direct observation. In order to conduct an empirical research and find an answer to a research question, researcher has to apply the methodology defined in the theoretical research. Empirical research is mainly of two types: qualitative and quantitative research. Thus it can be concluded that knowledge defined by epistemology could be gained by empirical research on applying the methods and practices proposed by theoretical research.
