According to archeologists, the Aboriginals had been in the Australian continent from 45000 years. Some researches indicate that these groups of people lived in this place from the time when the earth was formed. They are considered to be the original inhabitants of the land. There are many ways in which the Aboriginal people were subdued (Eades et al., 2010). They had to lose their land and their assets to the European occupation. In the current times, the government is trying to make it fair for all the people more socially and economically adept. One of the tenets of this process is to create an early educational system that fosters teaching to the students.
The purpose of this analysis is to determine the ways in which the Aboriginal population impacts the childhood education.
Impediments to Education
The Aboriginal people have suffered greatly in past times. Many of the indigenous people had to overcome hurdles to achieve in the community of Australia. There are many of these indigenous people who continue to be disadvantaged (Gilbert, 2013). The people have been found to have lower health quality, life expectancy and also reduced employment options. There are a number of impediments that prevent the people from gaining access to a better-quality life. Some of these issues have been detailed in the following.
The issue of land ownership continues to be a thorny topic that is also controversial. The Mabo case and the issues of land rights have been a significant development to the indigenous people. These groups wanted to make a claim for their ancestral land and continue to face great challenges. Court cases are found to be time consuming and difficult to prove. In this schema, the legislation and the land rights of the people are found to vary in each case (Ewen, Mazel & Knoche, 2012). The people need to prove that their ancestral customs and traditions are maintained. They also need to show a link to the land by complex legal documentation. In this schema, a considerable amount of time in the population is spent in proving the claims. The land claim by Yanyuwa people has showcased how difficult it is to prove the links. These people who have lived in the areas for thousands of years and find it difficult to make a claim. These struggles are found to pervade every indigenous group that wishes to make a land claim (Shahid et al., 2009). This issue of land ownership causes the people to develop a general apprehensive attitude towards the government and the governmental systems. There is a lack of trust in the services rendered by the government. Past events have caused the people not to indulge in a more western education systems. That impacts the next generation from learning. Early education is impeded by this event. The next factor that needs to be taken into consideration is the issues of poverty and subsequent health issues that the people face in these communities.
