The main objective of the technique of textual analysis is the interpretation and understanding of the message embedded in the content of the text provided in the message (Carley, 1993). The textual analysis technique allows the professionals to understand the content and structure of the message. The process of analysing a message textually involves a number of small activities such as determining the proper text to be considered for the entire process and the process which should be used to analyse the chosen text.

There are generally two types of texts in any visual message, which are outputs and transcripts of communication.
