The original logic behind genetic modification of seeds was to enhance the positive characters of the plant like increase in yield stability and productivity and reduce the negative characters like low pest resistance, high sensitivity to abiotic factors (Qaim 42). However, these seeds turned out to have several other issues starting from increased water use to social boycott.
