Understanding in light of two knowledge areas: Natural Sciences and Arts
Critical thinking involves a convergent model while creative thinking imbibes the reverse, a differing paradigm. The explanation of critical talks about being “judgmental” and hence indicates the use of rational way of thinking; creative thinking is “producing” like finding options and hence mounting the field of debate.
Critical thinking is believed to be more dependable because we use it for validation. As a convergent paradigm, it attempts to justify a piece of knowledge to find out if it fits. On the contrary, in the field of Arts, creative thinking is used more than critical thinking. But a critic of art also has to validate and justify the work of art, reject it and analyse it. That is also a convergent way of thinking.
