It makes the preparedness stage simpler, and when the relief to be provided is prepared earlier the time taken for its delivery is less ensuring end delivery of the relief aid. Pre-positioning is the pre-planning and pre-storage of humanitarian relief aid to be stored in an area close to the disaster site or if possible within the area of the disaster if the extent of threat has been minimised. This reduces the delivery time of critical goods and many lives can be saved with such a strategy. In addition, the transportation network can be worked around the storage sites and then linked with the supply chain ahead to let the goods reach the final leg of the end point of delivery.
