So how do we get a workable business model? McDonalds provided it. Far in the past McDonalds a fast food joint of mainly burgers provided customers to move fast with a burger on, or sitting and yapping over a burger, or mainly to drive in and drive out without coming out of the car in a very cold or a very hot day grabbing a burger to munch and move. Two entirely different motives, two entirely opposites, but underscored by the same business operation model- The model of sameness of operation over distributed spaces and time. Soon McDonaldism and McDonaldization caught on as the business operational model in every line of business and operation-giving a centralized control on distributed operation. Starbucks coffee caught on the same model albeit with different motives and mode of business in the same line of business. We would discuss how Starbucks leveraged on this model and made a shooting business and where it actually differed a bit and build up its own model – a model within the broad model. This essay would strive to show how Starbucks-ism is a part of McDonaldism but with a little difference.
