Initially the movie basically has its inception in Hong Kong. Some of the ideologies, resources and the cinematic style of the movie are inspired from its Hollywood counterparts. The Hong Kong audience welcomes this type of movie. Owing to its mass appeal this movie again ventures into Hollywood style. There has been a flow of thoughts from Hollywood while making the movie with elements of the Chinese culture. This was accepted and viewed by the cinema lovers across the globe especially in the west (Klein, 2007). This showcases the tolerance of the people around the world and how they want to understand the cultural patterns and the ethnicity of the Hong Kong people. The people from Hollywood also understand how their movie making style has inspired the Chinese moviemakers. The Chinese people also understood that the American people and the people from the west appreciate their cultural practices. This is a complex model of flow that exists in the transnational movies of today. Stephen Chow produced this movie. This movie was distributed within China by the indigenous Chinese enterprises. Sony Pictures did the distribution of the movie in the west. In order to spread to other countries they need the resources from different companies around the world. Just in this distribution of the movie there has been utilization of the resources from different countries. Even in this aspect the people can understand the inherent nature of the transnational cinemas. Global distributions of movies were normally affected by the ethnic representations and styles in the movie (Vassey, 1992).

In the past this form of globalized distribution needed to be considered when movies were considered for distribution. Not all segments of audience would appreciate the cultural elements that were being presented in the movies. The very selling point of ethnicity could also be a negative point. However in the present world, transnational productions and co-productions between two different nations are very well coordinated. Yecies (2009) discusses how there are at present formal agreements so as to facilitate the cultural productions and exchanges. These formal agreements are based on all the elements again, such as analyzing whether ethnic representations would be well received with audiences and more. However what these formal agreements achieve is that the representations of culture and other ethnic elements by itself becomes a strategic choice making, they are no longer presented because the screen productions houses want to cater to a certain audience. They are presented because the screen productions want to increase the cultural exchanges. Newer financing and distribution routes are being set up for such movies. The partners in these forms of transnational productions usually have each other’s creative teams available for giving them a better insight into the markets. Where in the past successful productions like this still could not bring in a large gathering of audience, at present this has changed. People opt to view movies on different screens, their movies and laptops and hence the transnational productions based on ethnic representations have increased quite rapidly 。
