In the case of Hong Kong, it was observed that the retailing growth was similar to that of China, except that the number of consumers was relatively higher. This was because of the tourist’s influx into the place. However as the report indicates, the tourists were quite careful with their expenditures. In comparison to China, there was also high rental costs associated with Hong Kong, retailers had to be exercise more caution when it came to expansions. Similar to China, Hong Kong had grocery retailing on an all time high, but had intense competition with respect to the retail market. Retailers are being challenged however to improvise for newer growth channels in order to sustain the value of products and services that they provide to their customers.
