The thought and design of this paper is to critically discuss women’s movement in Canada.The paper essentially discusses three issues.The first one is the evolution of women movement in Canada.The second issue is factors that defined Canadian feminism and women movement.Finally the third issue is the challenge of feminism in multicultural and multiracial society of Canada.
The contemporary women movement in Canada came into being in the late seventies.The feminist movement in the countryillustrated women as a ruthlessly browbeaten grouping.This movement in Canada, like that of in US, stipulated equality for women in every aspect of social, economic,cultural, judicial, and sexual life. The just now free-thinking women initiated an organized movement in opposition to economic unfairness, brutality against women, and sexual disgrace. This movement was protest against patriarchal system of the society which underpinned the unfair treatment of women (Reddy, 2011).The quintessence of feminism is the thought as regards the personal,firmness on the legality of women’s understanding andpoint that an indulgent of women’s expression may well be attained just in the course of recognizing and analysing life on a daily basis, where repression with that of everything else is linked. Such repression and autocracy impinging on a woman are essentially the fundamental premises of the feminist movement.
