Suppliers who suffered in the case of shutting down of Mitsubishi would also have problems in meeting the needs for other clients such as Holden and Toyota as they are interconnected. Ford shutting down in 2016, hence increases even more pressure on Holden to shut down by 2017. Thirdly, these manufacturing plants were constantly facing pressures from the Union and with very little government support were not able to resolve many of the issues without spending considerable time and money on them.
Now if Holden had been aware of these concerns, it would have strategically been able to preplan for it. Impact to key suppliers could have been addressed, even if the issues surrounding it cannot be directly eliminated (Samson, and Gloet, 2014). Similarly, knowing the problem of economic recession and how it was driving down the sales would have been useful for the company to preplan for its manufacturing or drive marketing or work on more economical alternatives for the consumers.
