按照中美天主教主教提取“当我要求帮助 – 关于家庭暴力的田园声明”（1992年），87％的家庭暴力受害者是妇女。女性面临来自他们的亲密合作伙伴，即丈夫/前夫，男友/前男友的家庭暴力。家庭暴力可能是性，心理，口头或身体。骂人，侮辱，威胁约谋杀或人身伤害，强迫堕胎;破坏财产谈到家庭暴力之下。

Domestic Violence
A family is, indeed, bounded by love, justice and peace (Pope Benedict XVI, 2008). Pope Benedict XVI defines family as the first natural society. A family is an institution that lays the foundation of life and sets the standards of peace and love. The members of a family are bounded by sympathy and care for the weaker ones, such as kids, impaired, and old members; authority of parents; accepting and forgiving each other and helping each other to manage necessities of life. But the humanity is confronting a great deal of conflicts, abuses and violence within the family. Husbands are found guilty in terrifying and beating their wives and parents are found guilty in beating their children on minor or major issues.
According to the U.S Catholic Bishop’s extraction ‘When I Call for Help – Pastoral Statement on Domestic Violence’ (1992), 87 per cent of the domestic violence sufferers are women. Women face domestic violence from their intimate partners, i.e. husband/ ex-husband, boyfriend/ ex-boyfriend. Domestic violence may be sexual, psychological, verbal or physical. Calling names, insulting, threatening about murder or physical harm, forced abortion; destruction of property comes under domestic violence.
