This system is developed partially under the project of open source Chromium OS wherein the code is only Google supported and not developers and performs on the designed software only. The documents of design for this project describes the presence of architecture that is three-tier based including window manager, browser, firmware and, software of system level as well as userland services (Geer, 2009).The contribution of enhanced boot time is made by the firmware by eliminating the need to probe hardware. The contribution is also made to the security component of this system as each step within the process of boot is verified while incorporation of the recovery of system.
The software of system level involves kernel of Linux which is patched for enhanced boot performance (Gray, 2009). Software of userland as well is minimum to the essentiality with the Upstart management as services can be launched in parallel, crashed jobs can be respawned and services can be deferred for faster boot time. Window manager further takes care of the interaction of user with different windows client. This system works only on Chromebooks that are netbooks with hardware integration of processor that are either ARM based or x86. It is also requested by the organization of the system to its partners of hardware that only the solid state drives are employed for the purpose of increased reliability and performance (Singh, 2006). A feature is also present that enables wireless printing through most printers that are USB based without support of Google Cloud Print.
