Energy is one of the key issues that has an impact on the overall performance. Most of the fast food style restaurants like Taco Bell optimize on speed. They customize their equipment in order to improve speed (as discussed for the first operational issue). In order to ramp up on speed and serve customers fast, most of the equipment such as the heaters for fillings in the dishes have to be powered up continuously. Some of this warming, grilling and cooking equipment’s cost the restaurants a lot in terms of energy costs. When operational costs go up, the associated product costs also are driven up.

Operational costs of the restaurant are reflected as increased product prices for the consumer who orders products at the restaurant. In the case of Taco Bell, this issue is well handled. Consequentially, this helps Taco bell to control its costs. Taco Bell is indeed the most cost efficient fast food compared to Burger King, Wendy’s and other similar fast food chains.
