Operations management is defined as the use of business administration practices, so as to execute a set of operation for converting materials and labour in the organization into goods and services for the customer. The purpose of operations management is to ensure operations are consistent and coherent. Design, execution and control of operations aim to deliver efficient production of goods and services (Bowersox et al, 2010). Maximizing the profit, customer satisfaction and other predetermined operational objectives are the motivations for operations management. In the context of operations management, operational performance can be defined as the alignment of business operations in such a way that the core business goals are reached (Stevenson, and Sum, 2002). Core business goals could be improved. The quality of process and improved customer satisfaction could be the net result. Consequentially, customer retention in the face of competitions would improve or it could simply mean increased financial turnover in a financial year. Operational performance ensures that the core action in operational management focuses on efficiency and productivity.
