The common goals in interior designing for individuals and community include creating conducive environment which is not only functional but also inspiring. However, the major difference between the two is that while designing for individuals the designs reflect the personality of the individual. Professional interior designers take care of individual culture, profession, image, and perception in mind while designing for individuals. While designing for spaces for community, the emphasis is put on utility, functionality and the purpose of the space. Sociologist Jean Baudrillard in his book The System of Objects have suggested that all the things selected to occupy the space assist in telling its function. However, everything used for interior designing reflects a person’s desires and personalities. Also while designing small spaces for individuals, the interior designers utilize the ideology of Perception of Space to create illusion of more space and user-friendly as possible (Mastroeni, 2014)

At a large scale, by the way of recommending and purchasing specified sustainable products, interior designers have capabilities to bring growth in the market which in turn helps to improve the health of ecology as well as the public. The responsibility of interior designers is that they wisely choose standard materials and products which are sustainable.
