Packaging is one of the major support functions in JM. Huge number of staff required for it because packaging is a step in marketing strategy and communication of a company for its product. It bears the main statement of the product. People first get to see the packaging and then the product (Pyzdek, 2003). That’s why it must be good enough. People consider that the packaging refers more to the appearance, given to a designer. It allows the recognition of the product by making it more visible and attractive places of distribution such as supermarkets or small shops. Consumer products are sold mainly in self-service stores in which they must sell themselves. Experience has shown that two products whose use value is similar is the one whose appearance and the packaging has been best studied that will sell best. Also today, the design of the product and its packaging are integral to the study of the product itself. Its objective is usually to increase sales and the value of this product by giving it the characteristics and values. The packaging must also be present to answer two consumer expectations: the added value of packaging in the mode of consumption and recyclability (Phelan, 2009). So, JM being one of the largest safety wear manufacturing company needs to add additional value to their product by proper packaging and that’s why they get this work done by high level professionals apart from their member staff by paying them huge amount of money. It increase their overall cost of products.
