Purpose of vision statement of organization
The vision of any organization should necessarily give a lot of hope to the readers and motivate them for better association. It is indeed a roadmap for the stakeholders. Vision is nowhere synonymous to the mission statement. Vision includes a higher degree of corporate value and integrates human values to it too. Vision is more inclined towards the internal stakeholders. In case of HP, the vision statement is prepared after the following questions are raised (HP, n.d):
– What are we trying to achieve?
– Are we already on the right track?
– Is it motivating to whomsoever who read it?
– Is it self explanatory?
– Is the roadmap and reachable to the targeted goal?
The vision statement of HP shows high level of commitment and transparency. It states that it seizes opportunities that can build growth on the major strengths and competencies identified. It also states that the idea is to make technology available almost anywhere and everywhere. The phrase “recognize opportunities” and “build upon strengths” show the aspiration of the company in the market and the identification of right vision is probably one major reason for the company to excel in the market and also turn out to be the best in the hardware and technological sector (HP, n.d). The phrase ‘anywhere and everywhere’ indicates its aspiration to go global and that the standards maintained by HP are higher.
Role of mission and vision in HP
In general, mission and vision are the major influencers of the existence of organization.
It is clear from the chart that mission and vision stand as the base for the company to decide on its goals and objectives (DeGraf and Lawrence, 2002). Additionally, it will also help evaluate the company’s metrics and provide a good level of guidance to the readers. While the mission of HP tells what it does, the vision of HP is crisp and gives an insight that it will seize opportunities and apply its strengths to make it successful.
