The result for the common identity, in which majority participants and minority participant are being induced indicates that the number of students with dual identity conditioned mind were more in the group. This is evident as they were randomly allocated to different groups. Adopting the method of Banfield and Dovidio’s (2013), it is seen that the number of participants who reported the subtle discrimination towards people were less in both when compared to the total number of participants in both the groups as 181 and 176. The mean score of common identity majority participants agreeing to the subtle discrimination can be said because they must be conditioned psychologically to recognise people according to their ethnicity and place of living like being an American or an Australian. These identity beliefs are also ingrained in participants and they react accordingly. The majority participants of dual identity also agreed a little more than the common identity participants. This indicates that the dual identity group which agreed more with subtle discrimination incidents among people would be conditioned to believe a common identity practice to be more dominant. This also indicates that majority participant would have felt incidents of subtle discrimination towards Asian people and these could be earlier beliefs that remain embedded in them, which they take it to be more serious matters of concerns.

The minority participants in dual identity group have the least agreement of subtle discrimination towards people, and this could be mean that the dual identity people do consider the discrimination to be more serious if it is outside of the two identities they hold. This is evident in Chinese, Japanese, Indians, Vietnamese, etc. that they have holding dual identities by being themselves with their own population and being someone else or Australian which is enforced upon them due to healthier interactions and intermixing. As per Banfield and Dovidio’s (2013) study, if common identity would be induced on participants, the subtle discrimination recognition level would go up for minority participants and would probably go down for majority participants.
