There are some effects caused by mass production. Firstly, it caused skilled workers to be replaced with low-cost unskilled labour as tasks being divided. Secondly, a hierarchy management system should be built with such size of production. Thirdly, management staffs, such as accountants, engineers, and social psychologists are needed in the complex production system. These effects improve that Taylorism is a rational method to fit in with Fordism.
Taylorism is known to be affiliated with the concept of mass-production methods, widely used in manufacturing factories. “Scientific Management” was developed initially by an engineer called F.W. Taylor, whose theory that analyses progresses, improving labour productivity. Broke down a complex multi-skilled task at work sufficiently into individual units, both profits could be increased and worker’s wages could be increased.
The general approaches of scientific management are defined as the classification of the skill-set mandated for a particular job, recruiting personnel with the right fit to carry out the job, establishing regulations for the method for achieving each task and training for regular employment, scheduling of tasks and eradicating disturbance and salary inducements for augmented production. (Russell, 2011) Therefore, workers have to perform their own tasks well in order
