Business Ethics
Ethical conflicts arise when individuals are challenged with a clash between general belief systems about morality, ethics and their own personal situations (Rush, 2014). The ethical decision would result in social injury. The major ethical conflict in this case is that of exploitation of labour. Levi witnessed that labour were being exploited both in China as well as Bangladesh and it was against it was against the principles of Levi and so it decided to discontinue its operations and it completely closed its plants in these areas. Due to this, Levi witnessed that its cost increased immensely but since it was for the greater good and the ethical thing to do, Levi decided to do it.
Had I been in the top management of Levi, I would have performed a similar task and would have closed these plants. However, I would have also helped the employees in starting a protest and would have encouraged them to fight for their rights. By performing these actions, I would have satisfied by customers and a good repute would also be developed in the market. On the other hand, it would be the right thing to do.
